Then it was back to the kitchen to film Nyonya Satay Ayam Goreng, a classic Nyonya first dish for girls in puberty and which was featured in the food programme I filmed for Little Nyonya – part of the 4-parter preview to the super hit Channel 8 TV series called, of course, LITTLE NYONYA!
We trotted off to Kitchen 1, my fiery kitchen with its red and blue flames, overlooking MacRitchie Reservoir, to film Aglio Olio with Fusilli – as cooking Italian is one of my passions – dunno whether I am doing it uber corret Italian style, but the end result tasted Italian enough! It was yummy.
It was all wrapped up in 4 hours – a pretty great feat and next time Gary and I reckon we can film 6 dishes in 4 hours – if we have more assistants in the kitchen. Reality TV Violet-Gary style.
Hey having your own TV station via youtube is pretty fun and considering I started off in TV in the black and white days – in 1968 – singing Opera in a long gown, with hand on the piano (PICTURE) – I think I do know pretty much about TV filming, especially after being filmed not only by Mediacorp but also by BBC, Fox TV, CNN and even for Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre Foods.
Big dreams apart, Gary and I finished the day typical Singapore-style – tucking into the food I had cooked and Gary had filmed. Next change……..
